Continuum of Chaos is a never ending variant of Starship Traders. Starship Traders games generally run for 6-12 weeks, although a year-long game isn't unheard of. Continuum of Chaos, however, is scheduled to never end. Another difference from SST is that there is no scoring. Players can build vast empires without being too obvious to the other players. In fact, the only easy way to guess about a player's strength is by checking their title; titles go up as you build military forces. However, they do not go down as you use -- or otherwise lose -- those forces. Therefore, the title only says what you have built, not what you currently have in your possession. Titles also go down if your starship is destroyed, another difference from SST. You can play this game via telnet as well as via a web browser. New players should use a web browser, if possible, since it isn't necessary to remember commands in web mode and the online documentation is accessible via mouse clicks.
